Virals
My friend Shaun has a new musical venture called Virals. I took some photos of him on a quest around London to taste the finest ale and eat the best smoked meats.
The Blessing Short Film
andrewtelling:
For the last few months I have been planning away on a short film for Kranky Records artist Felix for the track ‘The Blessing Part 1 & 2’ which is taken from there forthcoming album ‘Oh Holy Molar’. This last weekend saw myself and Photographer Owen Richards team up again to shoot the idea over the south coast in ‘varied & challenging’ weather conditions, I like to say a...
Spin
I am very pleased to have a photograph in the new issue of Spin. A magazine I have always held in great photographic esteem. The magazine has undergone a beautiful redesign and most importantly smells great.
The shot is of The Men, live at Shacklewell Arms.
Kwes
In January I was commissioned by Warp Records to photograph their new signing Kwes. A record producer turned solo artist. Kwes’s location of choice was Billingsgate, the largest fish market in the UK. We met up (very) early on a cold January morning, the market opens at 5am and shuts just as I am normally getting up. It was a great opportunity to see inside one the east London’s most...
Zero
Jen Long, radio blabbermouth and all round good egg has started a new magazine called Zero Core. She kindly asked me to shoot Pulled Apart by Horses for the cover and included a feature on my photography alongside a little article written by Sian Rowe, who did a great job of cutting down my never-ending waffle.
You can pick up a hard copy in lots of places in London and Cardiff or read it online...

The Chronicle
I have started to do a bit of spring cleaning with my website. I have created a new tumblr blog where I will post the pictures that fall between the gaps. I have entitled it ‘the chronicle of everything in between’, a title I have been using for my collection of everyday snapshots. It doesn’t make much sense as its not chronological or but it has a nice ring to it! Follow the new...
The Maccabees
Loud and Quiet magazine asked me to photograph behind the scenes at The Maccabees headline show at the Brixton Academy. The full article can be seen in this months issue.

BBC Takeover
A few years ago my friends Mathy and Fran gave me the opportunity to shoot stills on their short film, Elsewhere. It was a great experience, they gave me the freedom and time to shoot whatever I wanted. The cast was made up of two young actors who have gone on to big things, first on the stage and now in television and film. Jessica Raine, is the lead in Call the Midwife, a new series on BBC1....

Seventeen Days, Thirteen States
In October I went on an adventure with three friends through America. Traveling four thousand, eight hundred and twenty-four miles from New York through thirteen states in seventeen days to San Francisco. I endeavoured to capture ethereal subtleties within the vast scale and contrast of American society and geography.
I have made a photo zine containing a selection of pictures from this trip.

Araf
After many evenings in the pub, a few months of planning, one day of shooting and many more weeks of editing and procrastinating we have finally released Araf to public.
Araf is a short film in collaboration with Andrew Telling and Robin Friend.
I was drawn to the photographs from Robin’s Belly of the Whale series. We were both taught by landscape photographer Jem Southam who would describe how...

The Computers live at Reading Festival
The last show I saw in Exeter as a resident was the first for the The Computers. Since then they have been touring hard, gelling quiffs, ironing shirts and writing some mean rock ‘n’roll riffs. This culminated in recording an album with garage punk hero, The Swami (John Reis of Rocket from the Crypt and Hot Snakes) in San Diego.
This year they invited me down to Reading Festival...

You may remember that I posted some pictures of some misty mountains in North Wales back in May. Well Andy and I have been hard at work and are delighted to announce that our first public screening of Araf , a short film featuring photographer, Robin Friend will be at the Roof Unit on the 20th September.

fair ohs
June was a busy month. I was asked to shoot my old friends Fair Ohs for the cover of the new issue of Loud and Quiet. I wanted a backdrop to capture the colour and feeling of the band so I commissioned my very talented friends Team Team (Emma Denby and Elizabeth Lindsay. They created a great geometric backdrop in three days and came along to shoot to help out. You can see their talented hands and...
new site and new work
I have revamped my website and added some new pictures and series including my ongoing series that was recently exhibited in Bath. Consistent Deviations.
I will also be adding some recent film work I have been working on. A few weeks ago I helped out my friends Mathy and Fran with a video for Diagrams. It was a very long and wet day spent in Highgate woods but I am proud of what we produced.

Global Flyer
The new year has got off to a flyer hence the lack of updates on here. Here is a not very comprehensive catchup.
It started off with a fun few days in Berlin with Amy and Matt as the most excellent of hosts. The combination of snow, fireworks and beer equated to some good times. Many thanks to Andy for the epic effort of driving there in the crazy winter...

Creative Review
Those clever people at Open studio only got themselves a feature in Creative Review didn’t they. The rather good people at CR decided to use my shots for the opening page layout. Its always a pleasure to see your work in a well designed publication and you don’t get much better than CR.

Nathan from NGNG and Kay from Get a Grip have put together a great little zine all about all things creative with an emphasis on ‘do it yourself’ ethos.

Last week I was asked to help shoot a short film with Mathy and Fran for Elle Magazine. It involved high pressured water jets, Tunnocks caramel wafers and staying awake for 27 hours. See the film below.
I have put up a few tearsheets including my good friends Sauna Youth, a wonderful band with beautiful people.

Interesting and fun jobs come along like buses sometimes. Nick Bentley, another director on the cusp of great things got in touch. He was filming a 30 second ident for Kerrang TV, it involved garden gnomes, cuckoo clocks and exploding skulls.

it's nice that zine
A pleasant Monday morning surprise (well kind of) awaited me in the form of a post on It’s Nice That. Rob and Gordon from Zineswap are guest posters for the week and put up a featured post on me. Lovely chaps.
I met Gordon through various gigs and zine making activities and coincidently met Rob when I went to view the room he was vacating in Clapton. We discovered after some internet...

Elsewhere
Last night I attended the cast and crew screening of Elsewhere, a short film by my friends Mathy Tremewan and Fran Broadhurst. They asked me to shoot stills during the three day shoot in early March. This (along with the previous 12 months of scriptwriting, financing, editing, researching, casting, designing etc) has culminated in a 12 minute gem of a film.
It tells the story of Cath (Jessica...
Mark Lanegan
On Tuesday I was asked to photograph Mark Lanegan for New Zeland artist Mark Rutledge. We had 5mins with the man before his show at the Scala. This is one of the images I got from the shoot, probably the quickest shoot I have ever done.
Big thanks to Lucy for the link up.

Chain and the Gang
Last night I had the chance to see the formidable punk icon that is Ian Svenonius (formerly of Nation of Ulysses, the Make Up and Weird War) play with his new band Chain and the Gang at Cargo.
Another one to tick off the list.
Check out the Psychic Soviet to find out how Ian’s mind works.
Practice Space
I am planning a project on practice spaces in and around London, hopefully with a view to exhibiting the images at the end of May.
It would involve me coming along to a practice and taking a few pictures and possibly some pictures of instruments and maybe the people that practice there.
I am looking for interesting spaces (sheds / basements / squats etc) rather than the hire spaces.

time keeper overlord
